This country has won the most medals at Tokyo Olympics, know where India stands

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics was delayed by 1 year and now the athletes of different countries are now in Japan representing their own countries, with a lot of wins and defeats players, are either stepping up and some are leaving Tokyo with tears and broken hearts.

The top 5 countries are:

1. China: 28 gold, 16 silver, and 16 bronze medals

2. USA: 21 gold, 25 silver, and 16 bronze medals

3. Japan: 17 gold, 6 silver, and 10 bronze medals

4. Australia: 14 gold, 4 silver, 14 bronze medals

5. ROC (Russia): 12 gold, 21 silver, and 17 bronze medals

And the current ranking of India is 61 and has won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal so far. Both the medals are won by women. The silver was won by Chanu Saikhom Mirabai, under women’s 49 kg and the first winner is China’s Hou Zhihui. 

The bronze is won by the golden girl, PV Sindhu who is the first woman to win 2 Olympics medals individually and is in women’s singles badminton. Gold was won by Tai Tzu-Ying and silver was earned by China’s Chen Yufei.

Many of the heartbreaking defeats till now are of Mary Kom, Deepika Kumari, Priya Malik, Indian Men’s Hockey team, Sonam Malik, and  Boxer Satish Kumar, just to name a few. 

Among these have made some records like the Indian Hockey team who reached so far after 37 years, and Satish Kumar who fought the quarter-finals even after 13 stitches and became the 1st Indian super heavyweight boxer to reach Olympics under the 91 kg category. Still there is the hope of earning many more medals by the Indian athletes.
