The Sanyukt Kisam Morcha (SKM) has announced nationwide ‘rail roko (railway blockade)’ on October 18, for six hours, to protest against Lakhimpur-Kheri violence accused Ajay Mishra. The minister has been accused of conspiracy against the farmers and his son has been booked for killing four and a journalist.

The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesman Rakesh Tikait in a private event said, “Farmers will block railway tracks for six hours as a protest between 10 am and 4 pm on Monday”.

“Farmers from every district will stage blockades on their nearest rail lines. The minister has been accused of criminal conspiracy but he has not been summoned, nor has he been asked to step down. His son was arrested but after a lot of delays. We will not get justice if he remains in office. So, unless he is sacked, we are going ahead with our rail roko programme,” he further said.

SKM has identified 36 blockade points in Punjab. The state general secretary of BKU in Punjab was quoted saying, “We will make sure no train from any state passes through these points”.

Earlier, SKM burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on October 15, Dussehra. The umbrella body of farmers protesting has also questioned the UP government.
