In yet another big move, ex-Mumbai Police Chief Param Bir Singh who earlier wrote letter to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray making some serious allegations against Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, has now moved to the Supreme Court seeking a full-fledged probe for the same.

The former Mumbai Police chief set off a major row on Saturday when he alleged that Deshmukh had asked suspended Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Vaze, who has been arrested in the SUV case and is in NIA custody, to collect Rs 100 crore from Mumbai's restaurants, bars and hookah bars.

As per information, Param Bir Singh has now also sought a CBI investigation into the report submitted by Rashmi Shukla, which alleged wrongdoings in transfers and postings. He has urged the SC for the collection of CCTV footage of the Home Minister’s residence in Mumbai in order to prove the charges he had leveled.

If sources are to be believed senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi will be appearing for Param Bir Singh once the SC gives a go ahead and the matter is listed for hearing. Besides, the ex-Mumbai top cop has sought a stay on his transfer from the post of Mumbai Police commissioner.

Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has given a clean chit to Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and said the allegations against Deshmukh, made in former Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh's letter, are "vague".

Addressing a press conference in Delhi today, Pawar said ,"From February 5 to-15, Deshmukh was admitted to hospital because of Corona and the hospital has issued a certificate...From February 16 to 27, he was in home quarantine and if you see the former Mumbai Police Commissioner's letter, he mentions that in mid-February he was informed by certain officers that they got such and such instruction from the Maharashtra Home Minister."
