On Thursday, the US’s premier public health agency, the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued the highest level 4 category travel health notice for India which advises against any travel to India due to the rapid increase in the rate of COVID-19 infections.

The advisory also warned travellers against visiting India even if they are fully vaccinated as they are at risk of carrying, contracting and spreading the COVID-19 variants.

“If you must travel to India, get fully vaccinated before travel. All travellers should wear a mask, stay 6 feet from others, avoid crowds with poor ventilation and wash their hands.”, says CDC

With the COVID-19 situation deteriorating, the second wave has recorded over 2.7 lakh cases alone on Sunday which was the highest. Several states have announced partial curfews or complete lockdowns in response to the rapid infections.
