After 30 long years of waiting, Liverpool F.C are finally champions of England.  They beat Chelsea 5-3 on their home turf to lift the coveted “Premier league trophy”. Naby Keiita, Trent Alexander- Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum, Roberto Firmino, and Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain scored for Liverpool while Oliver Giroud, Tammy Abraham, and Christian Pulisic scored for Chelsea.

Liverpool finished top of the league with 96 points followed by Manchester City with 78 and Manchester United with 63 points respectively.

The last time, Liverpool were champions before this year’s Premier League triumph was in the 1989-90 season when Sir Kenny Dalglish was the manager of the club and John Barnes was the top goal scorer in the League and for Liverpool.

Current Liverpool F.C manager, Jurgen Klopp, has truly done a tremendous job since taking over as the coach of the club in 2015. Under his reign as Liverpool boss, the club has managed to win the Premier League, The Champions League, Uefa Super Cup, and The Fifa Club World Cup. Players such as Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, and Virgil van Dijk, have done exceptionally well under Klopp’s tutelage and have proven to become key figures in their team’s squad.

Liverpool however, lost their respective fixtures in the F.A Cup and the Champions League this year and will probably set their sights on a “treble” next season.

During an interview with various media personnel, Klopp said that “It’s unbelievable! We’re champions of the World, Europe, and England. I’m going to take a photograph with all the trophies we’ve won. I couldn’t be more proud of the guys. They’ve done a fantastic job today, I mean Chelsea are a top team and have high ambitions but to have put on such a performance against them was fantastic. It really wouldn’t have mattered what the end-result would’ve been but, I told the guys Look… If you want to win today, you’ve got to work hard! I thank the fans for their support…. You made it happen and I promise you, we will celebrate after this ******** virus is over!!”
