Lockdown imposed in Urban Estate 1 and 2 of Dugri Ludhiana from today 9pm till further orders

Decision taken by DC Ludhiana keeping in view 70 cases reported in areas in last few days, he urged residents to follow all directions and wear masks and avoid crowding

District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma have informed that due to high number of COVID19 positive cases found in Urban estate phase 1, Dugri and Urban estate phase 2, Dugri of Ludhiana, the areas  have been declared as containment zones.

He said that these two areas will be sealed 100% (Lockdown) with effect from 9 pm today, i.e. on 18-4-2021 (Sunday) till further orders.

He said that a containment zone is formed when 15 positive cases are reported in a particular area, but more than 70 cases were reported in urban estate phase 1, Dugri and Urban estate phase 2, Dugri, Ludhiana recently.

He appealed to the residents of these two areas to make appropriate preparations accordingly in the interval period of next 7 hours provided by the District Administration. He also urged residents to follow all directions wear masks and avoid crowding or else the District Administration would be forced to take strict steps.

Meanwhile, Ludhiana is the first district in Punjab to impose lockdown and form containment zone after witnessing over 70 cases in two particular areas. Sources say looking at the situation, the same could be applied in other districts too if cases continue to surge.

Moreover, there seems to be no respite from Covid19 cases in Punjab as the state in last 15 days have witnessed over 50,000 cases. The worst-hit districts in Punjab are Mohali, Amritsar Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur where over 300 cases are being reported on daily basis.
