Election Commission will announce the dates for the General Elections in India today i.e. March 16. The announcement signals the start of a voting exercise that will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking another term in office and the opposition attempting to join forces to put up a strong fight. India boasts the most populous democratic country, where every vote counts to elect the 543 members of the Lok Sabha. Hence, it is an important duty of every citizen to exercise their fundamental duty to vote. Here’s how you can register yourself as a voter:

 

Election commission of India offers online voter registration for Indian citizens who have attained the age of 18 on the qualifying date (1 Jan, 1 April, 1 July and 1 Oct of the year of revision of electoral roll). Citizens can enroll themselves as General Voters and fill Form 6 online at National Voters' Service Portal. Registered voters should also check their enrollment status.

Visit https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/ to see if you are registered to vote. If your name appears in the list, you are eligible to vote, otherwise you need to register to vote at https://voters.eci.gov.in. Also, you can use Voter Helpline App (Android & iOS) to verify your name in Electoral Roll or register online.
