In the latest development, around 57 lawsuits have been filed against the famous French cosmetic company L’Oreal. The lawsuits claim that hair relaxer products sold by L’Oreal contain chemicals that can cause cancer and other serious health problems.

Reportedly, in various federal courts of Chicago at least 57 lawsuits have been over the products, which use chemicals to permanently straighten textured hair. There are allegations that this cosmetic company’s hair products contain cancer-causing chemicals which are not allowed to be used in such products.

Adding to this, the lawsuits also claim that cosmetic company L’Oreal knew about the risk the chemicals pose to people’s health but still continued to sell them. US District Judge Mary Rowland has ordered an investigation regarding the matter. The companies that have been accused in the filed lawsuits include L'Oreal SA's American subsidiary, India-based companies Godrej Son Holdings Inc. and Dabur International Ltd.

L’Oreal has come out and regarded these allegations against them as baseless and planned. The spokesperson stated that no such chemicals are used in any of their products and they are ready for the investigation. They posted a statement, “confident in the safety of our products and believe the recent lawsuits filed against us have no legal merit.”
