In a shocking development, a woman working as an Assistant Professor at Lovely Professional University was duped of Rs 9 lakh by a former cricketer-turned-commentator of Jalandhar. The victim has been identified as Harmanpreet Kaur who is a resident of Green Avenue of Model Town in Jalandhar. As per reports, Harmanpreet was duped of Rs 9 lakh on the pretext of getting a government job in Sports University, Patiala.
On Harmanpreet's complaint, a case has been registered under sections 406 and 420 of IPC against Kulwinder Mahe, resident of Punjabi Bagh, Mitthapur, in Police Station 7. Kulwinder Mahe is posted in Punjab Powercom in Goraya and is a former cricketer.
Going by Harmanpreet's complaint, her in-laws' house is in Patiala's new officer's colony but she is working in LPU as an Assistant Professor. A student named Sahil Mahe studies at LPU. Harmanpreet alleged that Sahil told her that his father Kuldeep Mahe has good relations with higher officials as he is currently posted in Punjab Powercom in Goraya and is a cricket commentator as well. Not only this, Sahil arranged a meeting between his father and the Assistant Professor.
Then Kulwinder assured her that he knew higher officials and had good relations with the Vice Chancellor of Sports University Patiala. In December 2021, Kulwinder told her on the phone that there were vacant posts available at Sports-University Patiala, and therefore she should apply. and she will get a job with his help. The complainant said that she had paid Rs 1 lakh but she did not get the job. She kept demanding her money back from Kulwinder and his wife, but they did not give it. A recording has been handed over to the police for investigation. Harmanpreet stated that in total she paid Rs 9 lakh but she never got the government job.
