A 14-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her employer's house in Upkar Nagar where she worked as domestic help.
The girl was found hanging from a ceiling fan.
The girl's family alleged that she was raped and murdered, and her body was hanged to show it as a suicide. Her relatives along with hundreds of migrants gathered outside the house. The girl's parents demanded the arrest of the owner and other family members.
The protestors raised slogans against the Punjab Police claiming that the police were trying to let go of the case as 'suicide'.
When the protestors tried to forcibly enter the house, they were stopped by the police force deployed there. The protestors started throwing stones at police vehicles and an ambulance that came to take the body of the girl for autopsy.

Ludhiana police commissioner Kaustubh Sharma said that the house owner informed them about the incident. He said that the girl who worked as a domestic helper at their place was “found hanging from the ceiling.” He said that “no external injury marks or any signs of scuffle or force were found prima facie.”
