Aimedat containing the ferocious second wave of the pathogen more efficaciouslythrough makeshift Covid hospitals, the district administration has decided toset up 100 level-II beds (50 each) Government Meritorious School and CommunityHealth Centre (CHC) Jawaddi.

Inspectingboth facilities along with Municipal Councillor Mamta Ashu, ADC (G) AmarjitBains, SDM (West) Amrinder Singh Malhi, Civil Surgeon Dr Kiran Ahluwalia Gill,DMCH expert Dr Bishav Mohan, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma directedthe officials to run the facilities as level-II Covid care facility and askedthem to install piped oxygen supply, beds, ACs, and complete other compulsoryrequirements in both these places.

DeputyCommissioner said both facilities have the necessary infrastructure and thesemust be utilized for the treatment of level-II patients to reduce the load onthe other hospitals and helping them to convert their level-II beds to ICUbeds.

TheDeputy Commissioner also took a round of various halls there and gave necessarydirections to the officials and asked them to ensure Covid care centre in CHCJawaddi starts by Thursday (May 6) and Meritorious School by next Monday.

MamtaAshu said that entire team of Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu is committedfor providing best healthcare services to the residents. She said that she ispersonally monitoring the entire situation and that more such level-2 facilitieswould be set up in other parts of the district as well.

VarinderKumar Sharma said that the infrastructure in both buildings is being upgradedby roping in industrial associations like Chamber of Industrial &Commercial Undertakings (CICU) which is funding for the installation of pipedoxygen supply lines.

Sharmatold that district administration is fully geared up to meet any situationarising due to Covid 19 pandemic and there is not a dearth of resourcesincluding sufficient availability of oxygen and other necessary drugs.

Hesaid that the administration needs the active support of the public to conquerthe devastating second wave of Covid-19. He urged the people to exerciserestraint and not get panic due to any reason besides strictly adhering tonorms of social distancing, masking, and hand hygiene.
