Ludhiana Building Collapse: Three dead, 37 labourers rescued, FIR registered against the factory owner

Ludhiana DC and Commissioner of Police have reached the spot to review the situation, NDRF-SDRF task underway to rescue three remaining workers

The Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal on Monday morning took stock of roof collapse of a factory in Baba Mukand Singh Nagar, Daba road.

Inspecting the site, they gave full  charge of the rescue operation to the team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), Fire Brigade, local Police and others and asked them to save the remaining trapped persons from the auto-parts manufacturing unit namely Jasmail Singh and Sons.

They said at the time of incident around 9.50 am, 40 workers were engaged in the factory and teams have taken out 37 persons and sent to various hospitals.

They said that one of worker has been declared brought dead, one died during treatment at hospital and while a body was recovered from debris and seven have sustained injuries.

They said that the roof collapsed when the factory owner reportedly trying to lift the height of lanter.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said a detailed probe would be carried out late but our foremost priority to save lives of workers.

He said the permission of construction work was not procured in this work.

Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal said that a case has been registered against the owner and contractor.
