Ina rare distinction, Ludhiana district has secured the top position in the statein mega vaccination drive by administering highest ever 82677 Covid-19 vaccinedoses to eligible beneficiaries.
Hailingthe efforts of healthcare workers and social, religious organisations inachieve this massive goal, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ludhiana Varinder KumarSharma said that this rare feat would further motivate our teams to continuewith the same zeal and passion.
Divulgingmore, the DC stated that as many as 308 vaccination camps were held in acrossthe district where the health teams administered the doses throughout the day.
Headded that it is need of the hour to vaccinate at war footing to build herd immunity to combat third waveby sending teams in every nook and corner of the district to break chain.
Headded that vaccination is being done on a large scale in Ludhiana and theadministration is in action mode to further strengthen this protection systemagainst COVID-19.
DeputyCommissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that vaccination is the most effectiveweapon against this invisible enemy and now it is our responsibility to comeforward for the jabs.
Healso thanked MC Councillor Mamta Ashu for taking the first leap in thisdirection by organising “Vaccination at Doorstep” by organising a special campin a park in Partap Nagar locality of the city on March 26, 2021. At this camp,more than 100 people were vaccinated. Later, two-day mega camps were organisedin the district on April 3-4, 2021 in which close to 50,000 people gotthemselves vaccinated.
TheDC also appealed to people to come forward for the vaccination in huge numbers,especially encouraging youths and their parents in the camps so that further maximize the coverage.
