Covid forced schools to shut down in several parts of the world and India is no exception. School and other educational institutes are closed for the past 15 months in India, impacting the education of millions of students.

However, now several state governments are reopening schools after seeing a declining trend in Covid19 cases. Here’s a state-wise list where schools are reopening from this month.

Andhra Pradesh

The government of Andhra Pradesh announced on Friday that schools will reopen on August 16. Schools will follow the COVID-19 safety protocol, according to state Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh and the National Education Policy (NEP) will be implemented.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra's state education minister, Varsha Gaikwad, said on Friday that physical classes will resume on August 17 in both rural and urban areas.

“In rural areas, offline classes will begin for students in classes 5 to 8, while in cities, offline classes will commence for students in classes 8 to 12, following Covid-19 protocols,” Gaikwad added. On-campus classes, on the other hand, will be permitted only in regions where Covid-19 infections are consistently low, according to the ministry.

Besides, due to a drop in COVID-19 cases and recent relaxations granted, parents of students from various Maharashtra districts have been seeking the reopening of elementary schools and those from Classes 5 to 7.

Madhya Pradesh

The state government commenced physical classes for classes 11th and 12th from July 26. On August 5, the offline classes for the 9th and 10th standards also begin.

Now the administration plans to commence the 2021-22 academic session for colleges from September 1.
