Maharashtra govt directs colleges to sing National Anthem from February 19

From February 19, singing National Anthem in colleges of Maharashtra might become compulsory.

Uday Samant, Minister Higher and Techical Education informed news agency, "Maharashtra government to make singing National Anthem in colleges compulsory from February 19."

As per the reports, in January, Uday Samant had directed colleges and universities in Maharashtra to play the National Anthem at the beginning of their public programmes. It was further added in the report that colleges and universities need to adopt singing National Anthem just like it is played in theatres before start of the movie.

Uday, however, said that playing and singing the National Anthem will imbue a sense of national pride in the young students and at the same time will also teach them the importance of India's independence.
