Malala Yousafzai announces nikah with beautiful pictures; Priyanka Chopra, Melinda Gates sends congratulations

Malala Yousafzai tied the knot in a small ceremony at her parent’s house in Britain.

Nobel Peace winner and Pakistani activist Malala Yusafzai on Tuesday announced her wedding with partner Asser. The girl’s education activist and Asser intimate nikah ceremony was held at her home in Britain’s Birmingham. 

Sharing the news about the special event in her life, Malala Yousafzai wrote, "Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead (sic).” She has also shared a few pictures from the wedding ceremony.


  
 
According to Malala’s husband’s LinkedIn profile, Malik is a manager for Pakistan’s governing body for cricket. He graduated in 2012 from Pakistan’s Lahore University of Management Sciences.

Meanwhile, congratulatory messages started pouring in for the newly married couple. Actress Priyanka Chopra and Greta Thunberg were amongst the well-wishers. Taking to her Instagram story, Chopra wrote, “Congratulations @malala Wishing you so much joy and happiness…You are an absolute vision."
 
Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau on Twitter said that he and his wife hoped the couple enjoyed their “special day”: “We’re wishing you a lifetime of happiness together,” he wrote.
 
“Congratulations! So happy for you both!” wrote Melinda French Gates, said on Instagram. 
 
 
“Mubarak to you and Asser!! So happy to hear. God bless n regards to your parents,” wrote Divya Dutta. 
 
Canadian vlogger and talk show host Lilly Singh, too, congratulated Malala.

Malala’s nikah ceremony is a “wonderful moment”, said Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon. 

24-year-old Malala was born in Pakistan and is the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner in history.
 
She was shot in the head by Taliban terrorists in 2012 when she was advocating for the basic right of education for girls and their right to learn in northwest Pakistan. She was only 11 at that time. She was taken to a hospital in Birmingham, where she recovered. After recovering from the injury, Malala continued her activism for education for the girl child. 
 
At the age of 16, she delivered a speech at the United Nations (UN) headquarters speaking on the need for gender equality in education.
 
The attack on Malala made Pakistan legislate their first Right to Education Bill.

She has also published a book on the attack and its aftermath named 'I Am Malala'.
 
Malala in 2014 after months of surgeries and rehabilitation, joined her family in a new home in the UK and with her father’s support established a Malala Fund, a charity to the organisation to help and give an opportunity to every girl who wants to achieve a future she chooses. 
 
The nobel prize winner went on to pursue her education and studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford and graduated in 2020.
