Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday emerged victorious in the Punjab Assembly Elections 2022, with a sweeping victory on 92 out of the 117 assembly seats. Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu and former CM Amarinder Singh, after losing their seats, congratulated the AAP on its victory.

Team TrueScoop had an exclusive interview with Ashwani Jindal Chartered Accountant in Jalandhar to know about his opinion on AAP's win. He talked thoroughly about AAP and how the focus should shift on Punjab Welfare.

What do you think about the result? Did you expect it?

The result in Punjab may be a little unexpected for us, but on ground reality, it was expected. The majority of the public in rural areas were connected to AAP because there isn’t an option, people have literally given everyone a chance. People were tired of Channi and his tussle with Sidhu, people thought it would be better to give AAP a chance.

Do you think Punjab’s industry/education has hope now that AAP is in power? What will be the projected impact on the industry?

Yes, we are pretty sure AAP's agenda will work. In Delhi, they used to complain always about Central Government's involvement, now they have an independent state, so let's see what they will do. Moreover, they should think of making Punjab a model state which can be done by setting up industries. Giving freebies will not work in a long run. You see, the kind of majority people have given to the AAP party shows they have expectations from them.

Do you think AAP will deliver its promises?

I think they will and they should. Punjab is an independent state, they have to balance the revenue model at the same time fulfilling their promises. They can’t say now they have restrictions, they are absolutely free now. So, their excuses will not work. If the Punjab model fails, then they will not be able to win other states, because this is an opportunity for them to present Punjab as a role model.
