Jude Walker is on a trek to save the Earth, he has started his walk from Northern England to London. He has started his journey to gather support for a carbon tax to tackle carbon emissions.

Walker is partially inspired by young environment activist Greta Thunberg. He belongs to Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire, would cover 120 miles trek to the British Parliament in Westminster, Central London.

A United Nations Panel, this month, said, Global Warming is close to dangerously spiral out and the world would definitely face climatic disruptions for decades.

Walker is clear that carbon tax is a crucial step to slow down the hazardous effects of carbon emission (which contributes to global warming). He is walking 10 miles a day and he is accompanied by his friends and family. For now, he has walked through Woburn Sands, a town about 50 miles (30 km) north of London.

Walker told a media agency, Reuters, “We now know a lot more about climate change and I think a carbon tax would be definitely one of the most useful solutions to it.”

“The effects of climate change are already being seen,” Walker said adding, “We really need to make the changes now particularly if you want to avoid the devastating impacts later on.”

Walker wants to file a petition in British Parliament, for this, he requires the support of 100,000 people (only then the petition would be considered as a debate in Parliament). Till now, 57,000 people have signed the petition.

Walker called for serious action to slow climate change, ahead of the UN climate conference, known as COP26, in Scotland in November.

He said, “It would be just a dystopian world unless this summit doesn't go to plan. We can avoid catastrophe.”
