Exhorts Panchayats to complete all development projects within timeline besides focusing on quality of works 

Giving further impetus to the development of rural infrastructure, Jalandhar Cantt MLA Pargat Singh today handed over the cheques worth Rs. 5.79 Crore to as many as 50 Panchayats of his constituency for various development works. 


Divulging more, Pargat Singh said that the cheques had been distributed to 37 Gram Panchayats of East development block and 13 Panchayats of Rurkan Kalan block under the 14th Finance Commission Grant. This grant would further ensure the holistic development of the rural areas at par with the cities, said the MLA adding that the Gram Panchayats were mandated to immediately start the development works in their respective villages. Pargat Singh said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government was committed towards the all-round development of the villages and to achieve this aim project like smart village campaign was launched thus paving a way for all round development of basic infrastructure in rural areas. He said that the state government has emphasized the improvement of the rural road network, availability of clean drinking water, strengthening of infrastructure in schools, healthcare facilities in villages, and construction of model playgrounds for the rural folk.


The 50 Gram Panchayats received cheques today include gram panchayat Alipur (k), Bambianwali, Barsal, Chachowal, Chananpur, Chitewani, Daulatpur, Dhanal Kalan, Dhanal Khurd, Diwali, Fatehpur, Hamiri Khera, Hardo Farala, Jamsher, Jandiali, Jugrali, Kadianwali, Kasimpur, Khera, Khun-Khun, Kot Kalan, Kot-Khurd, KuKar Pind, Lohar Sukha Singh, Meerapur, Nanak Pindi, Nagal Purdil, Partappura, Pholriwal, Phoolpur, Raipur, Salarpur, Salampur Masanda, Saprai, Shahpur, Udhopur, Usmanpur, Cholang, Daduwal, Dhani Pind, Kangniwal, Lakhanpal, Machiana, Nathewal, Pandori Musharkati, Samrai, Sarhali, and Sunner Khurd.

MLA Pargat Singh said that the Sarpanches of these villages were asked to immediately initiate the development works in their respective villages as there was no paucity of funds for the rural development. The amount would be spent to develop drainage systems, roads, parks, and other infrastructure in the villages, he added. The MLA further exhorted Panchayats to complete all the works within the stipulated timeline so that new works could be started immediately after the old ones were over.Prominent amongst others present included Sarpanch Raipur Balbir Singh, Jamshed Sarpanch Bittu Shah, KukarPind Sarpanch Manga, Hardo Pharala Sarpanch Satpal, and Daulatpur Sarpanch Nirmal Kaur.
