
Giving a fillip to the sports activities in the canttconstituency, MLA Pargat Singh today inaugurated the commencement of theconstruction of a sports-park in village Khusropur costing Rs. 40 lakh.
The MLA categorically mentioned that there was no dearth ofresources to promote sports culture in the constituency as the Punjabgovernment was fully committed to promoting sports activities in the state. Healso distributed sports kits amounting Rs. two lakh among 80 budding players ofhockey and football streams. Notably, MLA Pargat Singh yesterday had laid thefoundation stones for the construction of sports-park and up-gradation of astadium at a cost of Rs. 62 lakh in Dhina and Sansarpur villages respectively.
The new sports-park in Khushropur would be equipped withfacilities like athletic track, sprinkle system, boundary wall, rest rooms,washroom, and drinking water besides up-gradation of existing infrastructure atthese sports complexes.
While interacting with the players, he reiterated his commitmentto providing all necessary help to budding players and assured more kits wouldbe distributed among players whenever required.
The MLA called upon youths to channelize their energy towards thesports and scale new heights in their career. He further pointed out that itwas the need of the hour to popularize sports culture amongst the children aswell as the youths.
Thanking the MLA Pargat Singh, villagers Jaswant Singh, Bhinda,Asha and Sanjiv said the Jalandhar Cantt Constituency has witnessed a massiveincrease in sports infrastructure under the leadership of MLA Pargat Singh whobrought various sports projects in the constituency.
