Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday turned pilot of the Indian Air Force and went for a sortie in India-made fighter jet Tejas. PM Modi Tejas's sortie photos were shared on social media and it went viral in no time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his official X handle and shared his picture of the sortie with the caption, "Successfully completed a sortie on the Tejas. The experience was incredibly enriching, significantly bolstering my confidence in our country's indigenous capabilities, and leaving me with a renewed sense of pride and optimism about our national potential."

 

Furthermore, PM Modi in Hindi wrote, "Flying in Tejas today, I can say with immense pride that due to our hard work and dedication, we are no less than anyone in the world in the field of self-reliance. My heartiest congratulations to the Indian Air Force, DRDO, and HAL as well as all Indians. (Translated version)"

 

PM Modi's Tejas sortie took place in Bengaluru, Karnataka. PM Modi will also review and visit their manufacturing facility, including the facility for Tejas jets. Notably, the Indian Air Force recently issued a tender to the state-owned HAL for the purchase of 12 advanced Su-30MKI fighter jets.

 

For the unversed, the HAL Tejas is an Indian single-engine, delta wing, light multirole fighter designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) in collaboration with Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.
