MTV Youth Study: 46% consider money most imp & despite having gf/bf, every other person flirts

MTV Insights Studio has launched the 2021 edition of its MTV Youth Study titled ‘Atmanirbhar by Circumstance,’ this youth study focuses on Gen-Z on the nation. 

MTV did a study on 26 thousand youth, aged between 15 to 25 years. In the study, 185 questions were asked related to subjects like love, family, studies, politics, money and passion. Many interesting things came out in this, which were…. 

Love:

  • 61% of youth believe that relatives are as fake as WhatsApp forwards. 
  • 64% of people claimed that they know at least a single person who has been betrayed in the relationship by the partner.
  • 25% of people did not want to commit and marry.
  • Every second person complained about the fact that his/ her girlfriend/ boyfriend flirts with others.

Family:

  • 52% of people believe that their happiness depends on their family.
  • 65% of people think that lockdown has increased the bond between them and their families.
  • 45% think that friends are only for enjoyment. 

Money: 

  • 46% of people believe that money is most important.
  • 46% of youngsters want to become rich and successful.
  • 74% of youth believe that they are in dilemma about their career and future.

Political view:

  • 83% of youth like to debate on political issues. 
  • 29% youth supports right-wing, 14% supports and 57% are confused.
  • 52% believe that people who criticize the country are ‘anti-national’.

Passion:

  • 21% of youth want to quit the job and follow their passion. 
  • 70% believe that a side-business can definitely help them in achieving success.
  • 69% want to make their hobby a career.

On-screen Content:

  • 67% of youth can rely on the OTT platform to watch their favourite content. 
  • 21% of youth watch frictional shows to avoid reality.
  • 43% loves music and believe that music helps in providing a healthy mental and emotional life.

‘New-normal’ and Quarantine activities:

  • 56% of youth expect that life would become normal after the Covid-19 pandemic ends. 
  • 52% people did cooking, 41% did gym and home exercise, 27% decorated their homes and 18% self-cared.
