"Medicines cure diseases, but only doctors can cure patients.Carl Jung's quote has never made more sense than it does now. No matter how much we recognise or appreciate our doctors and healthcare professionals for their support during the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be difficult to repay what they have done for the country.

Throughout the epidemic, numerous heroes in white lab coats appeared to save us from the deadly virus. As a result, National Doctor's Day is observed to recognise and honour doctors for their services to humanity. On July 1, this special day is observed. National Doctor's Day was established for the first time in 1991, and it has been observed annually since then.

Every year on July 1st, India commemorates the birth and death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a brilliant physician and the second chief minister of West Bengal. This day honours all doctors who have selflessly helped us in our time of need and worked diligently to ensure the health of their patients.

History and Significance of National Doctors' Day
In 1991, the Indian government established Doctors' Day to honour Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy's contributions. Dr. Roy, who was born on July 1, 1882 and died on July 1, 1962, was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, for his outstanding services. He was crucial to the creation of the Medical Council of India and the Indian Medical Association. This day is commemorated to honour the contributions of doctors to the nation's progress.

Doctors day in different countries
Doctor's Day is observed not only in India, but also in other nations on different dates. It is observed on March 30 in the United States, on December 3 in Cuba, and on August 23 in Iran.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Dr BC Roy
Dr. BC Roy was recalled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat on Sunday. "On July 1, we will commemorate National Doctors' Day," PM Modi remarked, speaking about doctors in the context of Doctors' Day.

This year is devoted once again to all of the doctors and healthcare professionals who are risking their lives in these challenging times, whether in primary or secondary care settings or in specialist COVID care facilities.

Doctors and paramedics have also been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, since they have lost close family members to the virus. This was at the peak of the second wave, and kudos to their enthusiasm and dedication for continuing to work tirelessly in the face of adversity.

Doctors are continually fighting for the lives of persons who have been infected with the deadly virus while we are self-isolating.

Doctor's Day is a genuine attempt to emphasise their importance and express our gratitude by honouring one of their most prominent representatives.
