A day after assuming charge as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President, Navjot Singh Sidhu faced the protesting farmers’ wrath in Chamkaur Sahib today.

As per information, Navjot Sidhu went Chamkaur Sahib for a meeting with party workers and Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and when he went to the Gurudwara to pay obeisance, he was blocked by anti-farm laws protesters. The farmers' alleged that the ruling party in Punjab was not doing anything for farmers and simply making false promises to lure voters ahead of the polls.

The protesters have also accused Sidhu of doing ‘political drama’ and alleged that his concern for farmers and Punjab’s welfare was just for the post.  Meanwhile, on-ground visuals show a large crowd of protestors can be seen raising black flags against him.

On the other hand, a similar incident also took place in Phagwara where clashes erupted between farmers and police.

When asked about the incident, Phagwara police informed Vijay Sampla, Chairman, National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Union Minister of State Som Prakash were scheduled to hold a meeting at the party office here, however, protesting farmers launched a protest and clashed with the police.

Reportedly, a large force was deployed to take control of the situation and later the scheduled meeting was also postponed.

The protesting farmers since long have been raising their voice against the BJP-led-centre government and its leaders, however, now the Punjab’s ruling party Congress and its leaders too were facing backlash.
