Punjab Congress internal fight is intensifying with each passing day as cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu is sharpening his voice against CM Capt Amarinder Singh.

However, both the leaders are supposed to meet the AICC panel led by Malika Arjun Kharge on June 22 to deliberate on the infighting issues ahead of Punjab Assembly Elections 2022.

As per the reports, CM Capt Amarinder Singh has already reached Delhi on Monday at 12 noon but, what about Navjot Sidhu? According to Sidhu’s latest interview with an eminent news channel, Navjot has refuted the claims of joining the high-powered meeting on June 22.

He said that has not received any sort of invitation from the High Command’s panel to join the meeting to resolve the party’s internal conflict.

Sidhu further added that he had read the news floating everywhere that his meeting was scheduled with the AICC panel on June 20. However, all such news is false, he added.

“I am not attending the meeting called by the high-powered panel on June 22,” Sidhu asserted.

Rejecting the formulas framed by the panel to accommodate Sidhu in the party he said, "I reject the offer to become Punjab’s Deputy CM face."

Reacting on joining the party, Sidhu said he is ready to join the party but on a condition for his in-house adversary.

“I am always ready to work with him but if issues are resolved,” Navjot Sidhu stated intensifying his battle against Punjab CM.

When asked if Capt Amarinder Singh is slamming the doors in his face, he lashed out at him and said, “Who is he to shut doors to Navjot Singh Sidhu?”

“He lost three elections, he lost his deposit, and later Madam Sonia Gandhi made him the party president. He threatened to split the party,” Sidhu said.

Sidhu in an exclusive interview also cleared that he will not be lured to any post. “Prove that I have asked for any post in the last 17 years,” he said.

"I am a true soldier of the party. He has been summoned twice to Delhi."

Being blunt at the Congress, Sidhu said, he does not want the High Command to treat as a “showpiece” during elections.

“With a few months left to the elections, first I get an invitation to tea, then lunch. Then Sidhu will be decorated like a showpiece in the Congress campaign,” he added.

He further added that why Capt Amarinder Singh govt is fulfilling promises made to contest 2017 elections when the other term elections are round the corner.

The government should have worked in a fair and calibrated manner to address the significant issues in the state to establish its image and to repose the public’s faith in the party.
