Amid speculations that Congress High Command is in no mood to pacify Navjot Sidhu and had started looking for new party chief, Sidhu's close confidant indicates that he may reconsider his resignation.
Navjot Singh Sidhu will remain the president of Punjab Congress and lead the party in upcoming elections. There are small issues which will be resolved soon, said Mohammad Mustafa, advisor to Sidhu.
"The Congress leadership is mindful of Navjot Sidhu's abilities, and Sidhu is not beyond Congress leadership. He is not Amarinder Singh, who has shown little interest in the Congress or its leadership," added Mustafa.
Sidhu, he claims, "acts emotionally at times," which the Congress leadership is aware of.
Reportedly, Sidhu wants three officials- minister Rana Gurjit Singh, Advocate General APS Deol and Punjab DGP Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota- out of Chief Minister Charanjit Channi’s government.

According to sources, Sidhu wants Sidharth Chattopadhyaya, a senior IPS officer from the 1986 batch appointed as DGP and prominent lawyer DS Patwalia should be named for AG's post. He also wants Rana Gurjit Singh, the Kapurthala MLA, to be ousted from the Cabinet.
Sidhu has accused Sahota of giving a clean chit to the Badals and Baba Ram Rahim of Dera Sacha Sauda in the sacrilege charges when he was in charge of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the Badal-led-SAD government in 2015.
His objection to APS Deol as Attorney General is that he has represented former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and secured bail for him in several cases. Meanwhile, cabinet minister Rana Gurjit Singh was allegedly involved in a mining scandal. Thus, Sidhu and his aides want him sacked and want to include a clean Dalit face given the upcoming polls.
