Amid the political crisis in Punjab, National Congress Party leader and former Rajya Sabha MP, Majeed Memon today mocked its ally Congress and ex-PPCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu over latter's resignation.
Majeed Memon said that comedian Kapil Sharma had handled Sidhu "more successfully" than the Congress party in his comedy shows. Memon has blamed the grand old party for the current political upheaval in Punjab, referring to politics as a "football game."
“Kapil Sharma had more successfully handled Navjot Sidhu in his popular Comedy TV shows than the Congress party in political football game resulting in turmoil in Punjab,” he tweeted.

Notably, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is a prominent Congress ally in Maharashtra's United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
In another tweet, Memon, talking about Capt Amarinder’s meeting with BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, said that if he wanted to "plead for the cause of Punjab farmers", he could have met Prime Minister or Agriculture minister.

“If Captain Amarinder Singh met Amit Shah to plead the cause of Punjab farmers, it is a welcome step. But he ought to have met Agriculture Minister or PM. There is a bit of smoke suggesting fire around.”

Unhappy over the first expansion of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's cabinet, state Congress chief Sidhu on September 28 resigned from his post. Releasing another statement, the next day, Sidhu raised questions over induction of ‘tainted’ politicians into the cabinet and appointment of corrupt officers in the administration.
The move comes ahead of the Punjab assembly elections in 2022 and now, the Congress party is in a major crisis. In addition, three more party leaders and a minister have resigned in solidarity with Sidhu. Other Congress leaders on the other hand have condemned Sidhu's sudden move.
Exasperated Congress leader Alka Lamba took to Twitter and asserted, "let him do a full-time comedy. His time is over in Politics. Enough."
Latest Update: Navjot Sidhu will remain Punjab PCC president and will lead party in upcoming state elections.
