Amid the alarming situation of Covid 19 cases in Punjab, the state government is regularly posting new restrictions and protocols as their attempts to contain the virus. From night curfews to weekend lockdown the Punjab government is taking all necessary actions required other than urging the citizens to get their dose of covid vaccine at the earliest.
Keeping in view the increasing number of corona cases in Chandigarh, the UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore earlier on Wednesday had decided to impose a corona curfew from 06:00 PM to 05:00 AM every day in the city.
Now as per the new orders by the administration, all shops, malls, multiplexes, shopping, etc. will be closed by 05:00 PM every day with home delivery facilities to be allowed only up to 09:00 PM. However, all the other non-essential activities will be banned during the night curfew. These new guidelines are scheduled to come into effect from 29th April 2021 and will be in force till further orders.
Further, the new guidelines say that all Educational Institutions, Schools, Colleges, Coaching Institutions, Libraries, etc. will continue to remain closed till 15/05/2021. Later on, based on the situation further orders will be delivered. These decisions were taken in the War Room Meeting where many government officials including UT Adviser Manoj Parida was also present.
Currently, the city is under night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am. As a reminder, the central government has allowed people above the age of 18 to get their dose of vaccine from May 1. Prior registration is a must before going for the vaccine.
