Keeping in view the increasing number of corona cases in Chandigarh, the UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore earlier on Wednesday had decided to impose a corona curfew from 06:00 PM to 05:00 AM every day in the city.

Amid the alarming situation of Covid 19 cases in Punjab, the state government is regularly posting new restrictions and protocols as theirattempts to contain the virus. From night curfews to weekend lockdown thePunjab government is taking all necessary actions required other than urgingthe citizens to get their dose of covid vaccine at the earliest.

Keeping in view the increasing number of corona cases inChandigarh, the UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore earlier on Wednesday had decidedto impose a corona curfew from 06:00 PM to 05:00 AM every day in the city. 

Now as per the new orders by the administration, all shops,malls, multiplexes, shopping, etc. will be closed by 05:00 PM every day withhome delivery facilities to be allowed only up to 09:00 PM.  However, all the other non-essentialactivities will be banned during the night curfew.  These new guidelines are scheduled to comeinto effect from 29th April 2021 and will be in force till further orders.

Further, the new guidelines say that all EducationalInstitutions, Schools, Colleges, Coaching Institutions, Libraries, etc. willcontinue to remain closed till 15/05/2021. Later on, based on the situationfurther orders will be delivered. These decisions were taken in the War RoomMeeting where many government officials including UT Adviser Manoj Parida wasalso present.

Currently,the city is under night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am. As a reminder, the centralgovernment has allowed people above the age of 18 to get their dose of vaccinefrom May 1. Prior registration is a must before going for the vaccine.
