In a major boost in connectivity for the people of Jalandhar, the New Delhi-Mata Vaishno Devi (Katra) Vande Bharat Express will now stop at Jalandhar Cantt. As per reports, the Railway Board has approved a halt for the Vande Bharat Express at Jalandhar Cantt Station. The decision comes in response to repeated demands from passengers and residents.
New Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express stoppage in Jalandhar Cantt
An official circular (letter no. 701) issued by the board confirms that Train No. 22439 (New Delhi to Katra) will now stop at Jalandhar Cantt at 10:04 AM, departing at 10:06 AM. Meanwhile, Train No. 22440 (Katra to New Delhi) will halt at 6:53 PM, departing at 6:55 PM.
This move is expected to benefit devotees from Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, and Nakodar, who had long been demanding a direct and convenient halt for the Vande Bharat Express heading to Katra.
However, to accommodate this halt, there will be a 5-minute delay at Bhogpur station (for Train 22439) under Jammu Division and a 5-minute delay at Beas station (for Train 22440) under Ambala Division. These minor schedule adjustments are expected to have minimal operational impact.
New Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express Schedule
As per IRCTC, Train number 22439, New Delhi to Katra Vande Bharat Express, operates 6 days a week. The train does not run on Wednesday. Before Jalandhar Cantt was made a stoppage, the Vande Bharat Express (22439) used to start from New Delhi and had stoppages at Ambala Cant, Ludhiana, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu Tawi, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. Normally, the train departs at 6 am from New Delhi and reaches Katra around 2.15 pm in the afternoon.
