To take action against illegal mining in Punjab, the government has issued a toll-free number. People can complain about illegal mining on 18001802422. Apart from this, from illegal recovery, selling expensive sand to any other complaint, complaints can be made on this.
Bhagwant Mann claimed that immediate and strict action would be taken on the complaint coming on this.
The new AAP government in Punjab has not yet made any policy regarding sand mining. Mining Minister Harjot Bains said that the policy will be brought in within 6 months. Because of this, till now the government has not fixed the rates of sand.
Even during the elections, the Aam Aadmi Party had made a big claim of ending the mafia in Punjab. However, till now no major decision has been taken regarding mining at the government level.
