While speaking at an event in Nagpur, Nitin Gadkari happily said, " In the past 5 years I have awarded work of Rs 17 lakh crore, this year I wish to award Rs 5 lakh crore work. See in this government, there is no dearth of money, the only thing lacking is the mentality and intention to get things done and make decisions."

He further added, " The negative attitude and a lack of courage in making decisions is the main drawback."

Talking about the role of IAS officers and bureaucrats in the government, Nitin Gadkari said, "I was at a forum of government officials the day before where they were talking about starting this scheme, that development package and I asked them why would you do that. If you could you do it, you wouldn't be sitting here doing the job of an IAS officer. You could have instead made these big decisions. You are facilitators, you should help those who can make these decisions."
