Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will face a no-confidence motion in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, but it may not pose a threat to the BJP-Jannayank Janta Party (JJP) alliance government. The alliance enjoys a comfortable majority in the 90-member House.
Former chief minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that his party also plans to bring many "Adjournment" and
"Calling Attention" motions. "The Congress is going to bring a no-confidence motion, Minimum Support Price (MSP) guarantee bill, many adjournments and calling attention to the government. We will seek answers on issues such as farmers' neglect, rising unemployment, changes in domicile regulations, rising crime, paper leaks, liquor and registry scams," the Congress leader said.
Congress’s move is seen as a furious attempt against the Modi government farm’s law and it will try to gain political mileage by bringing the no-trust motion against the BJP-JJP. Both the BJP and JJP have issued a whip and asked their MLAs to be present in the House. Kanwar Pal, the chief whip of the BJP Legislature Party, has asked the party MLAs to be present in the House at the time of voting.
Senior Congress leader and former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda had submitted the no-confidence motion on 5 March which was accepted by Speaker Cian Chand Gupta and scheduled for a discussion on March 10. The Budget Session of the Haryana Assembly began on March 5.

Currently, the Haryana government has a strength of 88. To prove the majority, the ruling BJP-JJP alliance requires the support of at least 45 MLAs.
The BJP has 40 MLAs and the JJP has 10 members. The JJP is led by deputy CM Dushyant Chautala.
On the other hand, Congress has 30 MLAs. Seven are Independents, five of whom are supporting the Khattar government.
The Haryana Lokhit Party has one member who has also extended support to the government.
