At least 238 people lost their life and more than 900 people were injured in what is called as one of the deadliest train accidents that took place in India. Late Friday night, India and the world went into shock after a horrific three-train collision in Odisha's Balasore. The deadly Odisha Train Accident is now grabbing global headlines and netizens on social media are heartbroken and demanding for some credible answers from the Government of India. The Odisha Train Tragedy took place at around 7 PM (IST) when numerous passengers were in deep sleep. The Odisha Train Accident took place when a passenger train, the Coromandel Shalimar Express, derailed and hit a goods train, and another train, the Yesvantpur-Howrah Superfast, crashed into the derailed coaches. Notably, the Coromandel Shalimar Express that was heading to Chennai reportedly derailed and hit a goods train, after which many coaches flipped over. While rescue teams were deployed after the accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief on his Twitter handle and stated that he is in touch with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. 1)As per reports, the Coromandel Shalimar Express that was heading to Chennai reportedly derailed and hit a goods train after which many coaches flipped over.

2)Following the derailment of Coromandel, the Yesvantpur-Howrah Superfast collided with the derailed coaches. Both trains were moving at a high speed when the collisions took place.

3)Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter handle and expressed his distress over the accident. PM Modi also announced an additional compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the family of those dead and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the PM's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

4)On Saturday morning, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the accident site and made an inspection. Thereafter, he announced that a high-level committee will be instituted to probe the incident. Vaishnaw further added that the rail safety commissioner will conduct an independent investigation. The inquiry of Odisha Train Tragedy will be led by A M Chowdhary, commissioner railway safety, South East Circle.
