Omicron: India reaches 97; 10 new cases in New Delhi

India reported 7,440 Covid cases in past 24 hours; Omicron hit the Capital of Country with new cases

Ten new positive cases of Omicron have been recorded in the Capital of the country, taking the total to 20. Delhi's first Omicron positive case was reported on December 5.


Maharashtra with 32 omicron variant cases, is the state with the highest number of Covid cases. Karnataka reported 5 new cases on Thursday, while Telangana reported four cases and Gujarat a single case of this highly spread variant.


 The cases in Delhi were confirmed by the Health Minister Satyendar Jain. He also said that 10 of them have been discharged.  


India has been recording cases consecutively for the past four days. The fast-spreading variant has affected 11 states and Union territories so far.


The center told the states to regulate the testing and genome sequencing. Many international travelers were tested covid positive during the testing. India reported 7,440 new covid cases and 391 deaths in the past 24 hours.


The government appealed the unvaccinated people to get their vaccination doses as soon as possible.

 
The fast-spreading variant has affected UK the most with a total of 11,708 cases of Omicron. Denmark is on second in the list with a total of 9,009 cases. The researchers are still doing researches to know about this fast-spreading variant. The mutations of the variant made it more complex to understand.

Government has already given guidelines over to the states to control the spread. Instant testing is being performed on international airports. The positive reported travelers have been quarantined as per the guidelines.
