One dead, two seriously injured in firing over land dispute at Tarn Taran’s Gehri village

In Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, two groups opened fire over land dispute.

In Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, two groups opened fire over a land dispute in village Gehri. A 55-year-old man was killed in the shootout. He has been identified as Resham Singh. 

Police reached the spot and took possession of the body. All accused are reportedly absconding as of now. 

DSP Sucha Singh Bal said that the accused have been identified and different police parties have launched a search operation to trace them. 

He informed that Resham Singh was having a fight with Manjinder Singh in village Gehri. In the fight, accused Manjinder Singh along with his associates fired a bullet on the victim.

Resham Singh was the only one who died on the spot due to a bullet injury, while the other two were injured. 

Sub Inspector Deepak Kumar, who is in charge of police station Sarai Amanat Khan, is investigating the matter. He said that all chaos started after Resham Singh sold his 8 kanals of land to Manjinder Singh; however, he was not given possession to date.

Manjinder Singh reached the spot with armed comrades to take possession. Manjinder’s group opened firing during the dispute. In the incident, Resham Singh died on the spot, while Jaswant Singh and Multan Singh were injured. 

The police said that the investigation has been started in the matter after registering a case against the accused.
