Regarding visibility of vacant stations on the portal, Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that during the past few years, the government schools in Punjab had witnessed unprecedented increase in enrolment and the education department had constituted a committee, which in tandem with the directions of the finance department had prepared sanction of posts in the government schools in the state.

The posts of teachers were granted or declared surplus as per the students’ strength in each school. Hence, the posts which have been declared surplus are not showing as vacant posts on the portal. Similarly, where the posts have been sanctioned as per the increased strength of students, the posts are being shown as vacant on the portal.

Mr. Singla said that the sanctioned posts of Middle schools have been shown as merged in the senior secondary school with which the middle school has been attached. The posts, going to be vacated up to March 31, 2021 due to retirement, have also been shown as vacant on the portal unless or until the same has not been declared as surplus.

The posts of English teachers have been given to schools as per requirement and the aspiring teachers can apply for the transfers on portal against these posts also, further said the Education Minister, while adding that the applications for mutual transfers would be considered after the completion of the online transfers.
