There was chaos in Hoshiarpur this morning when the bridge leading to Dera Beas Satsang collapsed due to the weight of an overloaded truck. The tipper truck was filled with gravel and very overweight caused the bridge to snap. Fortunately no one was injured in the incident.

According to information, an overloaded truck filled with gravel was passing over the bridge at around 11 am in the morning. Due to the heavy weight of the truck, the bridge snapped causing the truck to fall through. The said bridge used to connect the road leading to Dera Beas Satsang Bhawan. According to reports, the tipper was coming from Garhshankar towards Mahilpur. When it reached the main square of Mahilpur, due to the long length of the truck, there was difficulty in taking the turn. It was sent to take a detour from outside the city by the police personnel present at the spot.

When the tipper reached Dera Beas bridge to take the turn, the 100-year-old bridge collapsed under its weight. Truck Union and Satsang Dera Beas are expressing anger over the collapse of the bridge. They are demanding the local administration to facilitate the construction of the bridge as soon as possible.
