The Panchayat of village Virk Khurd in Bathinda district in Punjab has given an unusual order to support the farmer's protest. It says that a member from every family of the village immediately has to go to the Delhi border in support of farmers, otherwise they would be fined Rs 1500. Non-payment of penalty will result in a social boycott. Other Panchayats of Punjab are also preparing to pass such a proposal.
In view of the violence in Delhi on 26 January and the stern stance of the government thereafter, the farmers have started returning home. This has increased the concern of agitating farmers. In such a situation, the Panchayats have now taken over. The gurudwaras have been asked to announce that the morcha is still there, all have to reach Delhi. Do not trust any kind of rumor.
The order of Virk Khurd Panchayat also states that the member going to the movement will have to stay there for at least seven days. If there is any damage to one's vehicle in the movement, the responsibility of the entire village will be to compensate for the loss.
The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Doaba) is reaching people through social media. It is appealing to the Gurudwaras and Panchayats to announce that they should be told that the stage of agitation has resumed on the Delhi border.
