Babak Khorramdin, an Iranian film director, was reportedly murdered by his parents in an honour killing following a quarrel about his unmarried status.

The body of the 47-year-old London-based filmmaker was discovered in Ekbatan, a town in western Tehran, dismembered in garbage bags and a suitcase.

According to Mohammad Shahriari, the head of the Tehran Criminal Court, the father admitted to anaesthetizing his son before stabbing him to death, chopping up his body, and disposing of the remains.

Both parents have been taken into custody for further investigation as a result of the claim.

The father is quoted on the Rokna website as saying, "My son was a bachelor. He was always harassing us. Our futures were not safe. He cursed and did what he wanted. His mother and I came to a decision." We got rid of him so we wouldn't have to worry about our reputation.”

The parents have also admitted to killing their daughter and son-in-law, according to a tweet by journalist Golnar Motevalli. "I feel no guilt at all," the father was quoted as saying.
