Wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel on Wednesday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. With this Patel’s 18 long cricket journey has come to an end.

Parthiv who is 35, has played for 25 Tests, 38 ODIs and a couple of T20Is for India and featured in 194 first-class matches for Gujarat for domestic cricket.

His debut with the Indian team was in 2002 at the age of 17 against England at Trent Bridge and became the youngest wicketkeeper in Tests. Having a decent career, in the beginning, Patek lost his position to Dinesh Karthik and Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2004.  Though Patel made a brief comeback to the longest format of the game in 2016, he was just a replacement for Wriddhiman Saha during Ranji Trophy against England.

He last played for India in 2018 during a Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.
