Chirag Paswan on Tuesday was expelled as the national president of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). Suraj Bhan, who has been given the National Working President of the party, will conduct the election of the national president.

Reports suggest Pashupati Kumar Paras, the face behind the party revolt, is most likely to be elected the new chief of the LJP in the days to come.

All five MPs' primary membership from Chirag Paswan’’s team was also terminated.

LJP leader, Raju Tiwari said, "A national executive meeting was held and it was decided to remove all the 5 MPs from the party.”

This comes a day after five out of six MPs from the LJP party revolted against Chirag Paswan.

Chirag Paswan moments before his removal from the party as the national president tweeted an old letter with an emotional note. "I tried but failed to keep this party created by my father and my family. Party is like a mother and she should not be cheated. People are paramount in democracy. I thank the people who have faith in the party. I share an old letter.”

The son of Ram Vilas Paswan was thrown in a fuddle when five of the six Lok Janshakti Party MPs in Lok Sabha joined hands against him and rebelled asking the Lok Sabha speaker to identify them as a separate group. The rebellions were led by ram Vilas Paswan’s youngest brother Pashupati Kumar Paras who has been voted as the new chief of the drowning party.

Signs of a split in the party was first seen last year when Paswan publicly chided his uncle Paras.

Paras, who will soon acquire the party’s chief position, has started contacting members of the LJP's national executive to rally support.

According to sources, Paras along with four other MPs will reach Patna on Tuesday and a meeting of the LJP's national executive will be called in the coming two to three days. It is said the rebel leader may replace Chirag Paswan as party president at the meeting.

Pashupati Paras during a media interaction, said, “There are six MPs in our party. Five MPs desired to save our party. So, I have not split the party, I have saved it. Chirag Paswan is my nephew as well as the party's national president. I have no objections to him.”
