The Fast & Furious franchise is gearing up for its eleventh and final installment, set to be released in April 2027, and it may bring some surprises. Vin Diesel, who portrays Dominic Toretto (Dom) in the series, was approached by the studio for Fast and Furious 11. He agreed to participate after outlining three specific conditions.

Diesel recently attended Fuel Fest, a car enthusiast event founded by Paul’s brother, Cody Walker, held in Pomona, California. He was joined by ‘Fast & Furious’ co-stars Tyrese Gibson and Cody Walker, and he revealed what he called his three conditions for signing off on the 11th and final installment of the high-octane series.

Vin Diesel’s conditions

In his brief appearance, the actor thrilled fans with updates about what the upcoming and final installment could hold. “The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of ‘Fast and Furious’ [in] April 2027?’” he said. “I said, ‘Under three conditions,’ he added, stating his conditions,

  • “The first is to bring the franchise back to L.A.”

  • “The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing.”

  • “The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Connor. That is what you are going to get in the finale.”

Paul Walker’s legacy and the farewell that touched fans.

Paul Walker passed away in a tragic car accident on November 30, 2013, at the age of 40, while filming ‘Fast & Furious 7’. His death was devastating news to fans and crew alike. The final scene of the film — where Dom and Brian drive off in separate directions — became one of the most emotional farewell scenes in modern Hollywood. Paul was beloved in the role of Brian O’Conner, bringing the character to life in a profound way. The partnership between Brian and Dom is one of the most cherished in cinema history. The Fast & Furious franchise achieved significant success thanks to this dynamic duo, which is why Vin Diesel is eager to reunite their characters for the grand finale.

Creation of Brian’s farewell scene

In a 2015 interview with Joe Letteri, the film’s VFX supervisor, explained the magical process behind recreating Brian’s final appearance. The moment was achieved through a blend of CGI, dialogue reconstruction, and the participation of Walker’s brothers, Cody and Caleb, as body doubles, he explained.

“Most of the CG shots had some kind of dialogue,” Letteri said. “The sound editors had to craft the vocal performance out of [existing] dialog from Paul, and we had to animate to that.”

The realistic recreation of Paul Walker required dedication and expertise in VFX. Fans believe it was executed brilliantly, allowing them a final glimpse of the legendary character.

How will Dom and Brian reunite?

Although it's still uncertain how Brian will make his return, Diesel’s statement confirms that the character continues to be central to the heart of the franchise. Fans are eagerly anticipating the exciting prospect of a final reunion between Dom and Brian, which has kept them on the edge of their seats. The upcoming installment is expected to revive the nostalgic vibes and memories from earlier in the series.

The final film is currently in early development with Universal Pictures, expected to be released in spring 2027.
