People in Maharashtra resort to panic buying amid fear of lockdown

Huge crowd was seen at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus railway station and in the markets after CM Thackeray’s address on Friday.

After CM Uddhav Thackeray’s address on Friday, the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus railway station witnessed huge crowd. Amid fear for the expected lockdown, a large number of people were seen carrying suitcases and bags along with them and purchasing the stock.

Thackrey stated that if the situation did not improve, there will be no other way left other than implementing the lockdown. Following the address by CM, crowds can be seen stirring in the railway stations and markets. As per reports, people can be seen in Dadar market buying vegetables, and other stuff essential to survival. 

This disturbance among people is giving the fragrance of lockdown. People are afraid of lockdown and thus preparing for the same.

The weekend period is also been considered one of the reasons for this crowd in markets. In his address to the state, Uddhav Thackrey appealed to the public to not leave their houses and avoid going to crowded places unless it is necessary.

Taking the chance, the Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam has targeted the Maharashtra government in Dadar Bazaar for buying a crowd. The Congress leader stated the situation as the consequences of threats of lockdown.

Recently, there is a surge in cases in India. India has recorded the highest one-day increase in fresh cases in the last 6 months with 89,129 cases. Maharashtra has recorded 47,827 new cases and 202 fatalities.
