
The pilot and the co-pilot of the Dhruv helicopter thatcrashed on Tuesday into the Ranjit Sagar Dam in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathuadistrict are still missing.
Although there been no official defence statement on thiscrash, sources had said on Tuesday that both the pilot and the co-pilot 'weresafe'.
Police sources in Kathua, who were part of the rescueoperation after the helicopter crashed in Basohli area of the district, wherethe Ranjit Sagar Dam is situated, said the two are still missing.
"The rescuers have recovered a helmet, a pithoo bagand a pair of shoes from the Dam waters, but there has been no trace of themissing pilot and the co-pilot.
"Rescue operation was called off due to darknessyesterday. It is being resumed today morning," a senior police officersaid.
The helicopter had taken off from Pathankot in Punjab andmet with an accident during a routine sortie after flying very low, and itcrashed into the Dam.
The army and the local police teams are on the scene tryingto locate the missing pilots.
