The unveiling of Adi Guru Shankaracharya's statue was streamed live across the country at the 12 jyotirlingas, four Shankaracharya mutts, his birthplace, and several prominent temples. The statue has been reconstructed after it was washed away in the devastating flood of Uttarakhand in 2013.

The magnificent 12-feet statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya weighs 35 tonnes. The work on the statue had begun in 2019. This is PM Modi’s fifth visit to the temple.

--As he inaugurated the rebuilt samadhi sthal, the Prime Minister said, “You are all here today to witness the inauguration of Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi. In spirit, his devotees are present. Today, all maths and 'jyotirlingas' in the country are connected to us."

--"People used to wonder if Kedarnath could be redeveloped," he said, recalling the devastation caused by the floods in 2013. "But a voice inside me always told me that it would be redeveloped and would be even more magnificent than before."

--PM Modi's dream project has been the development of Uttarakhand and to fulfil it he has been inspecting the construction work himself over time.

"From Delhi, I have been monitoring the redevelopment work at Kedarnath regularly. Using drone footage, I checked on the progress of various projects being carried out here.”
