PM Modi greets people on Baisakhi, lauds country’s hardworking farmers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted and wrote, “May the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi bring happiness and prosperity in everyone’s lives.”

On Tuesday, Prime Minister greeted the nation on the occasion of Baisakhi – the beginning of New Year in the Sikh community. Appreciating the hard-working farmers of the country, PM Modi wrote, “May our field flourish and may it inspire us to take care of our planet.” PM also mentioned that the festival has a special link between our hardworking farmers and nature. 

Baisakhi is the spring season, marked as the beginning of New Year, is usually celebrated on 13th or 14th April every year. It is also known as the ‘Harvest Festival’. Apart from this, the festival also marks the formation of Khalsa Panth under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. The festival is celebrated in Punjab and other North Indian parts.

Many celebrities and prominent personalities extended the wishes on their social media accounts including Big B Amitabh Bachchan, Minister of External Affair Dr. S. Jayshankr.

Festival of Biju Festival in Tripura, Baisakhi in Punjab and the other North Indian States, Ugadi (Godi Padwa) in Maharashtra, Sajibu Nongma Panba in Manipur are celebrated on 13th of April, 2021 and Navarati begins from the same date.
