PM Modi imposes 'Janata Curfew' on March 22 as confirmed coronavirus cases near 200

With two more new cases of the novel coronavirus registered in India, the toll of positive cases rose to 196 on Friday. The two new cases were reported from West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.

After a huge announcement of Janata curfew by PM Modi on Thursday evening, coronavirus does not seem to be curbing. In an attempt to contain the spread of coronavirus, which has affected over 190 in India, PM Modi requested all the citizens to abide by the 'Janata Curfew' on March 22 from 7 am till 9 pm.

With two more new cases of the novel coronavirus registered in India, the toll of positive cases rose to 196 on Friday. The two new cases were reported from West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.

In West Bengal, a man with recent travel history to the UK tested positive for novel coronavirus on Friday. This is the second confirmed case in Bengal. A Saudi-returned man tested positive in Andhra Pradesh on Friday. With a fresh case in the state, the Andhra tally now stands at three.

The total number of confirmed cases in India was 195 on Thursday. In Punjab, a 72-years-old man died due to coronavirus. With this when the country reported its fourth coronavirus death. The person, who died in Punjab, was elderly and had co-morbid conditions like diabetes, cardiac ailments, the Union Health Ministry said.
