PM Modi plays Sikh card two days before elections; meets prominent Sikh leaders

Just two days before elections in Punjab, PM Modi attempts to gain Sikh vote bank.

Just two days ahead of Punjab elections 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the members of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee members and many more leaders. Senior BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa along with the delegation of Sikh leaders met the PM at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. 

In a video shared by the PMO office, Sikh leaders can be seen gifting a ‘kirpan’ to PM Modi.

After the meeting, the Sikh leaders praised Narendra Modi for his contributions to society. They called him a ‘Sikh at heart’. BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa shared a post on Twitter regarding the meeting and wrote, “Humbled to be a part of Sikh Delegation of prominent Sikh institutions & leaders who met with PM @narendramodi Ji to thank him for his incredible Sewa & initiatives We expressed our gratitude for “Veer Baal Diwas”, Kartarpur Corridor & support extended to Afghan Sikhs @PMOIndia”


Harmeet Singh Kalka said that PM formed SIT to punish the culprits of anti-Sikh riots. Corridor opened for Shri Kartarpur Sahib, the holy place of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He said that many such historical things have happened. Mahant Karmjit Singh said that PM announced Veer Bal Diwas in memory of big and small Sahibzadas. GST removed from Guru's Langar. He has done many such works for the Sikh society.

DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka, Mahant Karmjit Singh of Yamunanagar, Sant Balvir Singh Seechewal from Punjab, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa and many more attended the meeting. Apart from these, Baba Joga Singh of Dera Baba Nanaksar Karnal, Sant Baba Major Singh Wala, Mukhi Sant of Dera Baba Tara Singh Wala, Amritsar, Baba Sahib Singh, Jathedar of Anandpur Sahib Kar Seva, Surinder Singh of Namdhari Darbar Bhaini Sahib, Shiromani Akali Budha Dal, Baba Jassa Singh of 5th Takht, Dr. Harbhajan Singh of Damdami Taksal Chowk Mehta and Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Ranjit Singh of Takht Sri Patna Sahib participated.


In Punjab, BJP is facing criticism due to their farm bills. Playing Sikh card, just two days before elections will help BJP or not is still a question until the elections result gets declared on March 10.
