PNB Scam: Fugitive Nirav Modi arrested in London, to be presented in court today

On Wednesday, after Westminster Court issued a warrant, fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi was arrested in London. Earlier, CBI sources had informed that a central probe agency was monitoring the developments in London and that all the required legal assistance was being extended to proceed with the extradition request.

Sources have informed that legal procedure of extradition of an accused takes its own time. It has also said that Indian investigators from Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are tracking the case.

ED officials had informed that London court had issued an arrest warrant against the businessman who is also the main accused in the Rs 14,600 crore PNB scam case. The arrest came as a response to the probe agency's request for his extradition in money laundering case.

Nirav Modi along with his uncle Mehul Choksi is being investigated by Enforcement Directorate for alleged money laundering and corruption to commit the alleged scam in the Brady House branch of the PNB in Mumbai that was brought to light last year.
