While the coronavirus pandemic has gripped people in fear in Amritsar, another big news has come out from here as 6 people lost their lives after consuming poisonous liquor in Muchhal village, which comes under Tariska police station.

Reportedly, the six deceased belong to poor and destitute families. Apart from this, two people related to the case are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

However, the police officials have launched an on-the-spot investigation.

It has been said by the villagers that this poisonous liquor is being sold in many houses of the village. The police administration was informed about this several times but no action was taken against the sellers.

"We don't know from which house our family members have consumed this filthy liquor," said one of the villagers.

The family members of the deceased said illicit liquor sellers have paid a bribe to the DSP to do not take stern action against them. This statement raises a question on the Police administration's duties and responsibilities.

According to the police officials, there were four deaths in the village and no one was treated at the hospital. Also, the police administration also did not consider it appropriate to conduct an autopsy of the deceased.
